  1. Hello- My other "groupie" has not posted so I picked yours since no one had comment on yours yet. Congrats on your grasp of English at age 25- you more than doubled our time limit, so I think you are speaking just fine ;)

. . .and congrats on the marriage!! Whoot! Whoot!

Predictions, practice and continue reading is great advice.

So sad about your little one that says that she doesn't have a brain. :( That is so great that you were able to give her some tips on how to help her learn to read. Feelings VS Facts are so important. Explaining that people are different is something that seems so obvious on the surface- but when told in a tender tone, can change the outlook for a future learner.

Were you able to give Alexandra specific ways to help her to learn and to remember?

  2. Thanks Becky for your compliments and good wishes!
We practice breathing routines in the classroom, and some Zumba or invented dance routines right before every Math lesson, and sometimes if needed during transitions.

I had lunch on thursday with Alexandra in our classroom, and she explained to me that her head is full of thoughts, coming and going all together. Funny I have been suffering from paralyzing panic attacks and her explanation resembled very much how I feel. when I get overwhelmed.
I told her that I sometimes feel like that as well and that it can be very good to know that these feelings come and go, and that breathing can help. We then moved a couple of desks, laid down on the carpet, in the classroom did 15 slow breaths together with our eyes closed.
I hope that our time together was as healing for her as it was for me.
    Teaching rocks!
