  1. Hey Sarah- I loved Sherlock Holmes books myself when I was younger! I agree with you that skipping the little a's, an's and if's doesn't change the meaning typically of the story- nor does not remembering who the character was. My girl talked about Tom Swear. . .instead of Sawyer the entire time. . .I never corrected her either. Had I corrected her, it wouldn't have changed the meaning of the story- but may have made her feel foolish for being on page 140 and still not pronouncing his name properly.

    It's great that your "learner" is attempting to guess at the meaning and is taking the time to go back for himself to try to fill in the gaps that aren't making sense to him as a reader.

    ON A DIFFERENT note: Heather B is in our group D. . .and I have never seen her posts? I think she is having tech problems. . .?
