Yodio - Week 4, Group S, Roman

  1. One of the activities my students do when learning new spelling words is trying to find small words they know inside the bigger new words. For example, "on" is inside one. "In" is in inside. Finding things they know and are familiar with makes reading not so "scary"

  2. Hi Roman,
Glad you had fun! Is there anything else you would do differently next time besides having a recording device? What questions did you ask her when you stopped her?
And chunking is a great skill. It has always made more sense to me to look for recognizable chunks when doing longer words, rather than trying to "sound them out." When sounding out multi-syllabic words, students often forget the first letter sounds by the time they are at the end of the word! It makes it too difficult to put it all together.
