  1. Roman, I agree that breaking them into small groups by ability is great to focus on the areas where they need the most help.

    Glad to hear you are enjoying reading workshops! Homogeneous groups are such a great thing because they allow the teacher to focus on specific skills a group of students need. Re-visiting a skill with the whole class could be a waste of time and boring for other students, so this is a great way to go! As we have learned, independent reading is highly valuable too, so having students that a teacher is not working with read or do stations on their own is also a productive use of time.
