"Reading and writing as preparation for each other." Glad you pointed out their symbiotic relationship. Yes, they are quite "intertwined" One of my hopes is to make reading something they want to do and not have to do. Reading Workshops provide us with the necessary foundation for that.
Hi Beth, I also like the idea of using reading and writing to prepare for each other. Reading a stylistic example or an informative text is a fantastic way to prime students for writing their own pieces! Writing is also a great way to prepare students to think about what they are going to read and activate prior knowledge. I plan to utilize both of these techniques in the classroom!
