  1. I agree with you that the english language is so complicated. To be honest I am so suprised that students actually learn it. I can imagine that for ESOL students this whole process is frustrating and confusing.

  2. I'm so glad that you learned a lot from the reading! Learning about inventive spelling and its role in language development can change one's approach to teaching. It gives teachers permission to allow students to invent as opposed to correcting their mistakes! This is so important in supporting the development of writers.
    In reference to ESOL learners--one important idea to remember is that good literacy education is good for all learners. So, by learning about how to help children develop into readers and writers, you should use the same principles with your ELL learners.
